Over the past five years IPES has used the farmer to farmer method to help build sustainable, ecological communities in some of the most impoverished areas of El Salvador.  We are currently working with a total of 55 communities. All of the communities were displaced as a result of the civil war and the majorities are located in previous conflict zones.  Among the people we support, 66 percent are women and 25 percent are under the age of 25. Ten of our communities are indigenous communities.
